The reason why some collagen supplements are more expensive than other collagen supplements is due to the fact that not all collagen supplements are made the same. For example, some collagen supplements use fish and other collagen supplements use cows, etc… Some collagen supplements even use dead baby fetus (according to time magazine). So depending on what ingredients are used determines how much the collagen supplement is going to end up costing.
As far as which on is the best, I suggest that you use fish based collagen supplements due to the fact that they are least likely to have any harmful ingredients as opposed to other collagen supplements. For example, some type 2 collagen might contain collagen from cows that have made cow disease and that’s something that no one should consume. There are also a lot of other thing things such as fish is much easy to harvest and cows are much more expensive compared to fish so fish collagen will always be cheaper that cow collagen and that’s something that you should take into account as well.
Collagen supplements can come in many forms such as pills, liquids, and powders. The form that I recommend most people take is liquid for because liquid collagen has a much high absorption rate that any other form of collagen and that’s something that more people are not aware of. Liquid collagen supplements can be absorbed by the body up to 95% where as other forms of collagen usually have a maximum absorption rate of about 70%.
One thing that I must say is that even though liquid collagen is better than other forms of collagen, you’re going to end up paying out of pocket for it. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for so if you can afford it I highly recommend that you go for the liquid collagen as opposed to any other form of collagen because at the end of the day like the age old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Now, even though liquid collagen is more expensive the other forms of collagen when thing that you need to know is that expensive is not always better. For example, a lot of type 2 collagen comes from cows and because they come from cows you can easily spend 80$ just for a small capsule bottle of about 100 or so pills. This in my honest opinion is paying way too much and without a doubt I am sure that you’ll be able to find a bottle for less than $50 which is just as good if not better.
So don’t be fooled into thinking that expensive equals good when it comes to collagen supplements because even though that might be true with liquid collagen, that’s not true for all forms of collagen.
Also, it’s best to make sure that you do your research on the collagen supplement manufacture that you choose so that way you’ll make the best decision at the end of the day.
